Sheaths are used as a case or protective covering for various types and styles of knives. They can be made from hardened leather, plastic, or durable fabric. Many sheaths come equipped with a clip or other locking mechanism of some type to keep the knife secure inside. Sheaths can be hand held, attached through a belt loop or clip and are typically provided with most sheaths.
