Vests refer to clothing that covers the upper body but does not have sleeves. Vests are commonly used as a sleeveless jackets for times when you do not need a full jacket, or are often worn under an outer jacket for increased warmth. Wearing a vest under a jacket allows you to have the needed warmth with the freedom of not having multiple layers covering your arms.
